Osvaldo Casa was born 1924, fifth out of eight siblings, in Massa Lubrense, a small fishing village near Naples in southern Italy.

He grew up to be a charming man, with an unbridled passion for food. That passion was equaled when lightning struck during the course of a village fete when he laid eyes on Agatha, who became the love of his life.

Adding to his joy, Osvaldo quickly found out, to his delight, that Agatha was an excellent cook, and came from a long line of restaurateurs, who had handed down their trade for many generations.

Soon after first meeting, Osvaldo and Agatha married and spent many happy years hosting the most exquisite dinner parties during which they would serve the most delicious pizza any of their guests had ever tasted.

1959 was a very important year in the lives of Osvaldo and Agatha, seeing as it did the birth of their first son, Giovanni. That same year, Osvaldo decided to open a small neighborhood pizzeria, as a gift to Agatha.

“Margherita” was the first pizza ever known, named in honor of Queen Margherita of Savoy, and Agatha decided to dedicate the name of her pizzeria to her.

As Giovanni grew up, his mother realized that he had inherited her passion for cooking, and in addition, his fathers love of good food. So, she inducted him into her world, teaching him her secrets, and he soon became a great chef.

Year later, Giovanni would decide to share his mothers recipes with the world, to recreate the authentic taste of her cooking, the flavors that accompanied him throughout his childhood; the essence of his home.So was born Margherita pizzeria del quartiere dal 1959.
